Winners at the Bull Breed Activity Day

Seeing as we featured an article about the Bull Breed Activity Day, it only seems appropriate that we follow this up with a concluding story about what happened on the day itself.

With dark clouds looming, there was a fear that Bull Breed Activity Day in Mountsfield Park would be a wash out. But despite the rain and cold, dogs and their owners came out to enjoy the activities of the day. Battersea engraved tags, the RSPCA micro-chipped and gave free health checks to a number of dogs.

A special bull breed agility display featuring Bless, Squirt the Staffordshire Bull Terriers and Roxy, the English Bull Terrier went down well and a few other dogs had a chance to brush up on their agility skills, giving Squirt and Roxy a run for their money.

Behaviourist and TV’s Dog Borstal star Robert Alleyne, along with Zoe Williams from The Guardian and Cllrs Wise and Egan had the unenviable task of judging the entrants. All in all the day was a huge success and everyone had fun. The winners of each category were as follows:

Smiliest Staffie – Sid and owner Gill (see photo above)

Waggiest tail – Ziggy and owner Liz

Childs best friend – Bless and owner Kyle

Best biscuit catcher – Angel and owner Billie

Best trick – Frank and owner Rachael

Best in show – Sid and owner Gill (see photo above)

All photo’s of the day can be seen on the following link http://www.flickr.com/photos/lovecleanstreets/sets/72157627988043228/

Thanks to everyone who made the day such a success… until next year.
