We (along with the Mayor of Lewisham – Sir Steve Bullock) recently attended an open evening at Eco-Computers new facilty at Pepys Resource Centre on the Deptford Foreshore, and can report that we were very impressed. Eco computer Systems are a local social enterprise that provides an IT Reuse and Recycling service to residents, businessses of all sizes, local authorites and schools. As well as supporting the principles of reuse by preventing perfectly useable IT equipment from being disposed of they support a number of community projects such as providing free recycled PCs to low income families and children, delivering free IT training, setting up training and a one year broadband subscription for elderly residents, offering voluntary roles to the unemployed and supporting Sydenham Community Radio Station.

If you are interested in donating IT equipment you can either callemail or visit Eco computer systems. They are able to accept:

Servers, PC’s, Laptops, Base Units,Desktops, Towers, TFT Monitors, CRT Monitors, UPS, Laser Printers, Inkjet Printers, Plotters, Server Racks, Network Switches & Hubs, RAID Arrays, Network Storage, Network Routers & Firewalls and Other Miscellaneous IT Equipment  and also welcome donations of old phone systems, handsets and mobile phones.

If you’re interested in learning more about how you can reduce and reuse Lewisham Council will be at the following Markets in November: Deptford Market 24th, Catford Market 25th and Lewisham Market 26th, we’ll be providing helpful tips on how to reduce the amount of waste you throw away and save yourself a bit of money in the process! Keep your eyes on the blog for more details closer the time.
